Paul Gantner is an owner of Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, LLC. Mr. Gantner has been able to bring his business and legal education and experience into a firm that has for many years provided comprehensive estate plans.


During law school, Mr. Gantner worked as a corporate law clerk for Shelter Insurance Companies in Columbia, Missouri. Mr. Gantner also taught a personal finance class to undergraduate students at University of Missouri.

He co-authored an article – “Practical Ethics in Elder Law”, which was published Spring 2010 the St. Louis Bar Journal and also contributed to a chapter in Missouri Bar CLE Desk book – Elder Law – “Planning and Paying for Long-Term Care”, which was re-published 2010. Mr. Gantner has also contributed articles to the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers Midwest Chapter Newsletter (January 2011) and NAELA’s Young/New Attorney Section newsletter, “Fresh Perspectives” (Spring 2011).

Mr. Gantner is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois and is an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).


Mr. Gantner obtained his undergraduate B.S.B.A. degree in Management and B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Louis University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went to law school at University of Missouri, in Columbia, and obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2008. Mr. Gantner also obtained his Master of Business Administration from University of Missouri in 2008. In 2008, he was awarded the Fred L. Howard Prize for Excellence in the Advancement of Advocacy.


Mr. Gantner was born and raised in St. Louis and currently lives with his wife, Sally, in Manchester. He is a proud graduate of DeSmet Jesuit High School. He is active in the Alzheimer’s Association Speakers Bureau and Young Ambassador’s group.
These days, Paul enjoys playing in recreational softball, volleyball, and bowling leagues. He is a huge Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals fan, but also roots on the Saint Louis University Billikens, the St. Louis Rams and the St. Louis Blues.

Charlie Amen is an owner of Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, L.L.C. He has extensive experience in the estate planning field, in addition to his background in financial planning, income tax counseling and tax return preparation. He knows the importance of planning for the future, both economically and emotionally. Mr. Amen, along with other members of the firm, will work hard to provide quality estate planning services to clients concerned about protecting their hard-earned dollars and providing for their loved ones in case of death or disability.

Because of his knowledge and desire to share that knowledge with others, Mr. Amen is frequently invited to speak on estate planning matters. He teaches adult education classes through Meramec Junior College on topics such as investments, taxes and estate planning. He also devotes his time to educating customers through estate planning seminars.


After serving as a Coast Guard Attorney handling everything from court martials to administrative maritime law, Mr. Amen became a Deputy District Attorney in Solano County, California, where for 11 years he prosecuted felony cases. He was also the owner of an income tax preparation firm, primarily responsible for income tax returns. For two years, he worked as a stockbroker and financial advisor at a large brokerage firm, and is a licensed Financial advisor.

Recognizing the need for his clients to have the legal tools to control their own affairs and avoid the hassle and heartache of probate, Mr. Amen founded Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, L.L.C. Mr. Amen has been able to combine his financial, tax and legal experience into comprehensive estate plans that meet clients’ needs and expectations.

Mr. Amen is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Missouri Bar Association, California Bar Association, The Estate Planning Council of St. Louis and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is licensed to practice law in both Missouri & California.


Mr. Amen obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in History/Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, where he also obtained a commission in the Coast Guard. He went to law school at University of California, Hastings College of Law, in San Francisco and obtained his Juris Doctorate, with honors in 1982. He has been licensed to practice law since 1982.


Mr. Amen and his wife are both originally from South St. Louis County and are Lindbergh High School graduates and currently live in Kirkwood. They have two grown children. He was active in Boy Scouts and is a former Cubmaster. Mr. Amen is also a retired Commander in the Coast Guard, having last served as the St. Louis Legal Officer.

For recreation, Mr. Amen is in a bowling league. He is an avid stamp and coin collector and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also competes in the Senior Olympics, in the shot put and discus throw.

Mr. Amen is a member of the St. Louis Coast Guard Officers Association, Reserve Officers Association, and a Founder of the American Cancer Society’s Heritage League.
